Boat Story 023 Notes

New reader? Start here.
Back to Part 022 Notes – Forward to Part 024 Notes
Those poor Travelers. They leave the Rose in a fury, only to end up not where they expected. With a storm imminent, they climb on to the first passing boat. This is part of maritime conduct, both on Ta Ante, and in real life: if you find someone overboard, you pull them up. No questions asked. You do this because you would want someone to do it for you. It’s as simple as that. So the boat the Travelers end up on is more concerned about the health of their new guests than anything.
And in the meantime, Patel schemes of how to get to their contact. Because he’s a jerk. Also, I love that Tami says “You hurt that girl, Nina,” to Patel, but says nothing of striking Xiphos over the head with a wrench. How the innocent have fallen.
On a completely different note, yesterday marked the one-year anniversary of Big Damn Project, more specifically, of me putting fiction on the web every week, starting with the first section of 7 Days in November. I didn’t even skip a week when I finished 7 Days, and started Boat Story on July 20th of this year.
So I don’t mean to brag, but I’m going to chalk up 2009 as a successful year for me. That’s 52 uninterrupted writing weeks. That is to say, that’s 52 weeks where I got something done, and well over the last 23 I’ve produced at least 1000 words per week. It may not seem like a lot, especially to more seasoned web literature folk, but it’s a big deal to me.
Also, I want to thank the folks who have been with me the entire year. I know there are a few of you, so thanks for taking this silly journey with me. It means a lot to me.
Anyways, enough rambling. As always, any questions or comments are totally welcome.
