Back to Part 18 – Forward to Part 019 Notes
First, let’s recap: Cait discovers a boy standing on a dock in New Haven, Lat, while going to pick up a package. Sensing he was in trouble, Cait posed as the person who was to meet the boy, and took him into her care. Meanwhile, she brings her intended cargo on board: a mysterious map destined for a collector in the 21 Kingdoms. While Cait tries to figure out what to do with the boy, she looks forward to paying off her debt to her family with the delivery of the map.
The Rose and her crew make a brief stop on Molyneux Island, Cait’s family’s own sovereign nation, to celebrate her eldest brother’s 46th birthday. The boy, Toby, tries to run away, only to be pulled back not by the girl ordered by Cait to protect him, but by Nina, Cait’s niece. The two start a fledeling friendship, much to the displeasure of Xiphos, Nina’s girlfriend and Toby’s protector.
Meanwhile, across the equator, feared pirate Burian Lake makes a move to take Ebe’s map. After attacking Information Traders, Lake disappears into the ocean.
At the birthday celebration, Cait meets her former first mate, Logan, and is promptly expelled from her brother’s party when she lays Logan out. Free from reach of her family, on her way to paying off her debt, and only slightly suffering from the night before, Cait is able to relax for the first time in almost two years.
…until Helmsman Xiphos notices the Rose might be being followed by another boat. Late the next night, the Travelers on the Rose take the map from the cargo bay and, on the way, kill Nina.
And that brings us to the present. We’re about to start Act 2. The map is gone, Cait is still in debt, and most importantly, Nina is dead, leaving a hole in the crew.
There’s a new banner, at least for Act 2. I’m not too pleased with it, so it may go away. But for now, here it is.

As always, if there’s anything I missed, please let me know.
