Back to Part 008 Notes – Forward to Part 010 Notes
Milly and I were talking last night, and she was upset that we didn’t actually get to see Nina and Xiphos meeting. It’s understandable that she would want to see this, because Nina and Xiphos are both separately neat people, and cute together. I said the meeting would be less than satisfactory, and I’m almost of the mind that it really doesn’t matter what their first meeting was actually like, because they’re together now. But I suppose it’d be interesting to see how both of them act in that situation. So, their first meeting:
Xiphos found the girl Cait had told her about in the entry gallery, just as Cait had said, her arms still folded over her chest. She had her stare fixed down the foot bridge between the two boats, but as Xiphos got closer, the girl unfolded her arms, her attention shifting to this new distraction.
“Hello,” Nina said when Xiphos got close enough. Her tail flipped behind her.
“The captain wants to see you on the Kelonio.” Xiphos turned back to the Kelonio, turning back only to add, “You can leave your things.”
“Are you on the Rose?” Nina asked, unmoving from her trunk. She leaned back, her arms held out behind her to keep herself upright.
Xiphos paused in the middle of the foot bridge, casting a glance over her shoulder, back at the red panda on the trunk. “Just… come on.” She continued back to the Kelonio.
Nina followed, her tail twitching behind her.
Annnd scene.
So there you have it.
As for the rest of this section, Cait meets one of her many siblings at sea, huzzah. I don’t have much to say about the family Molyneux, but we’ll meet more of them in the next few weeks.

I always feel a strange swelling in my chest when I get mentioned in the story notes.
Nina is cute. Xiphos is awesome.
But now that I really think about it, first meetings aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. I think about when I first met my significant other.. he barely made eye contact with me. Talk? Hell no. I thought he hated me. Turned out, we were both too shy to approach each other right away. It was that secluded time in the car driving from Lansing to Kalamazoo one night that forced us to converse.
So I guess what I really wanted was that point for Nina and Xiphos. But! I am satisfied and feel like I received some closure for that chapter :D
