Back to Part 1 — Forward to Part 3
This section is short. There’ll be a much longer section next time. That being said, I don’t know if I have too much to say about this span, except:
- Furball as a calico. It has been pointed out to me before that there are no such thing as boy calicos. This isn’t true: boy calicos are few and far between, which is covered in this section. In real life, boy calicos are almost always sterile, or they suffer from Downs Syndrome. Furball is neither (I’m sure he’s glad to know). What’s left is his status as a “genetic freak,” which I suppose is true. But in this story, it goes a little deeper, quite by accident, really. Ty’s species has already been pointed out, and Furball’s has been explained. Keep watching that, because it fits with the rest of the characters as well.
- I love playing with furs’ body language. Furs can be really expressive while keeping a complete poker face. Watch your cat or dog sometime. It’s all about ears and tail.
- We brushed up against who Ty is in the last section, but here we learn what hurts her.
More to come next week.
